After the meeting, group administrators should see that the major takeaways from the meeting are summarized on a blog post on the group blog. Embed links to any relevant videos, photos, or podcasts. The discussion can then continue online.
Important – For every blog post, be sure to choose a few relevant tags that represent the topics discussed. These topics show up on the homepage in the Topics section. When someone clicks on a topic, they will see a list of all the blog posts (across the entire network) with that tag. This is a useful tool for finding people and groups across the country that share common interests.
Use of video is encouraged. Groups may choose to assign one member as the “technology person.” When recording video, be sure to respect the privacy of those members who may not wish to be seen or heard on camera.
Live Streaming. UStream and LiveStream are useful tools for streaming live events over the internet. All you need is a camera and a laptop. Adding a simple USB microphone can help you get decent audio. If you are going to stream a meeting live, be sure to alert others by posting a link to the streaming channel beforehand. Platforms like UStream have a chat feature that can allow those not physically present to join in the discussion.
Recorded video/audio. If you don’t want to stream the event live, you may still wish to record portions of the meeting and post the archives to a video sharing site like YouTube or as a podcast.
When you plan a meeting, be sure to publicize it online beforehand by creating a new blog post or posting an event.
