The purpose of Liberty Discussions is to encourage citizens to form a discussion group in their area and use the website to connect with others and report on meeting results.

Groups must be based on a local geographic area.  Check first to see if there is a local group near you. If there is not, you may start your own.  The location of the group must be reflected in the name of the group (i.e. City, State).  If you create a group with any other name it will be deleted.  Do not start a new group until you have made every effort to connect with other groups in your local area.

Before you create a new group, you may wish to ask yourself some questions:

  • Am I willing to work on building an active discussion group in my area?
  • Am I willing to follow the guidelines on this website?
  • Am I willing to actively share the results of group discussions?
  • Am I willing to assign roles to others?

Group creators become online administrators.  Each group has its own blog, which is created when the group is.  Group blogs are accessible at the URL libertydiscussions.com/(group name).  Individual users are not permitted to have their own blogs on this site. It is up to each group to decide on roles. The group administrator sets the online roles for members of the group (e.g. authority to post to the group blog).

Once a local group gets larger than 40-50 members, it would be appropriate to split it. Decisions about splitting groups should be made by consensus or group vote.
